About us
Save Our Homeless Dundalk is a completely voluntary organisation of pro-active people. We have been operating for six years and have organically developed to provide services for people without homes and those experiencing financial hardship and deprivation in the town of Dundalk and environs.
SOHD-CLG collect and distribute goods such as non-perishable foods and donations of household items and clothing and distributes them to the needy in Dundalk.
Thus far, the founders, Manager and volunteers of SOHD-CLG have been able to engage local community and social capital to provide services including food clouds, food and clothing distribution and assisting once homeless people to move into their homes. Stakeholders include service users, the public, local secondary and national schools, local elected representatives, statutory and voluntary agencies and local commercial businesses.
SOHD-CLG have noted a marked increase in demand and the national fiscal impact of the COVID-19 epidemic promises to bring significant increases in hardship throughout Ireland and in Dundalk and therefore increased demand for our voluntary services.
The Founder, Manager and volunteers plan to expand on their services into the future to meet increasing demand and are seeking charitable status to do so. An accompanying Strategic Development Plan is in place to guide future organisational development.
